Trauma is a tricky word to throw around. This is because trauma can come in so many forms and as is the case with so many things, unique to the individual. Some people who had what most would consider to be a traumatic childhood or who have gone through what most would consider a traumatic event even in their adult life, seem to, at least outwardly, come out completely unscathed. While others were overwhelmed and had their lives derailed by what might seem like insignificant events. It is the persons' response to the trauma that matters as much or more than the trauma. It is also the relationships that are involved in the trauma that matter. When we are overwhelmed or traumatized we have needs that are not being met at that specific point in time. Whether it be an unmet need of safety, belonging, acceptance or whatever fundamental needs is not being met, it is in that unmet need and in that relationship that the path to true personal healing lays. Paralysis by AnalysisOne of my mentors in the health field, Paul Chek loved to use this phrase, "paralysis by analysis". What he was communicating is that all of the double-blind controlled studies, the talking heads about any given topic and the analytical approaches that abound cause people to become more stuck because they are overthinking. The same can be said, in my humble opinion when it comes to trying to help someone feel better emotionally or to resolve a personal challenge that has risen out of past trauma. Spending years talking through things, while perhaps somewhat comforting does not get to the root cause of the problem and may even create new ideas about "what is wrong with you". Interpersonal Solutions To The PastInstead of spending years trying to figure things out or decipher your actions in every event of your daily life, why not go right to the source of the problems. Often times going to the source can actually have broadly reaching positive impact because your parts that emerged out of a traumatic or stressful event is disrupting many areas of your life.
The source as mentioned previously has everything to do with your relationships. And our ways of functioning within relationships are learned at an early age, basically by the ages of 7-10 you have your set of lenses and your toolbox for operating in relationships. In hypnotherapy I am able to support you in safely going back to the moment in time when an event occurred that colored what is now your way of operating in the world. Hypnotherapy performed in the way that I do enables you to connect to an initiating event, reframe the event, realign your perception of the relationships involved and to cause a profound shift in your emotional state. And when you do this, the emotional charge of the event is gone, your inner parts are aligned with your adult self's needs and you feel significantly better in your day to day life. This can all happen in just a matter of a few hypnotherapy sessions with regression and parts work. Countless people who have gone through these sessions have said that they accomplished in a few sessions what they couldn't do in years of traditional therapy. As they say the proof is in the pudding, so if you are struggling with long-standing challenges that you think might stem from a trauma, then give it a shot. Even if you don't recognize yourself as having had a traumatic life or childhood you may have some seemingly small thing from your past that is getting in the way of you living your best life.
